George Koutras, D.D.S.
Oral Surgeon

Dr. George Koutras received his Bachelor of Science in Biology at the Ohio State University with Magna Cum Laude honors. He continued his education in Columbus and received his Doctorate in Dental Surgery from the Ohio State University College of Dentistry. Dr. Koutras completed a teaching internship with Ohio State University’s Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery as well as an Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery non-categorical internship in Wilmington, Delaware at Christiana Care Hospital System. He then obtained residency certification in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery from the Ohio State University College of Dentistry where he worked at both the Wexner Medical Center as well as Nationwide Children’s Hospital. During his final year Dr. Koutras served as a Chief Resident for the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery service.
Throughout his professional career, Dr. Koutras was very passionate about research. He was a Pelotonia Cancer Research Fellow for his research in oral cancer chemoprevention. In addition to his research in oral cancer, Dr. Koutras also had a focus in opioid management and reducing opioid utilization for Oral and Maxillofacial surgical procedures. Dr. Koutras presented his research in both oral cancer chemoprevention and opioid utilization reduction at the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons Annul Meeting.
Dr. Koutras is happily married to his wife Leeza Tselepis Koutras. Both Dr. Koutras and his wife are excited to be in the Pittsburgh South Hills area where Leeza grew up. In their spare time, Dr. Koutras and his wife enjoy being involved in the Greek Orthodox Church. George also enjoys following both college and professional football, watching movies, and learning how to play golf.
