Cone Beam CT 3-D Imaging
3-D digital x-rays, also referred to as Cone Beam CT imaging, are essentially CAT (Computerized Axial Tomography) scans of the jaw areas. These state-of-the-art scans are accomplished in our office in a matter of seconds. The cone beam CT will produce multiple high-resolution pictures of the jaws which will allow the identification of clinically significant anatomy and pathology. Your anatomy, seen in 3 dimensions, can be enlarged, rotated, and divided in multiple sections, thus revealing any potential problems prior to your procedure. By knowing more about your anatomy during the treatment planning phase we can perform less invasive procedures.
These images are routinely used in implant treatment planning, but are also valuable in procedures such as impacted teeth, TMJ, pathology, and orthodontics. The radiation exposure is 10 times less than a medical CT scan and is equivalent to 4 standard film bite-wing x-rays.
We have invested in this technology to better serve our patients and provide the peace of mind that our diagnosis and treatment plans are the based on the most comprehensive information found in dental x-rays today.
